Title: Chippewa river yakin
Post by: gmetime24 on June 20, 2013, 08:09:33 AM
Made it out to the Chippewa river in midland county last nite with a couple buddies(jjmpv22).  River is up a little and water is still stained. I have a new 8ft yak and my friends have awesome new ascend yaks. Got a total of 4 undersized smallies and our buddy got a nice 3.5 lber. What an awesome place to spend a few hours looking for river smallies. Can't wait till the water clears up a bit more

How many shallow places are there in the chip?  I have a hobie with the mirage drive.  Would like to try the chip but don't want to be banging bottom or logs all day..

The chipp is pretty shallow I'd say 2-3ft on average with some deeper pockets that are 4-6ft. Some areas are very shallow with rocks and boulders in many spots, not many logs besides the ones from the shoreline. Water is pretty dirty still and it's kinda hard to see bottom. It should clear up by July-August
