I'm leaving for kalkaska this week . Is the dam in Elk Rapids easy to get to, and easy to fish? Will I have to fight for a spot? Just looking to spend time, while were not turkey hunting in the middle of the day.
Yea there is parking all along to side of it. Probably won't have to fight for a spot as there really has yet to be an actual run of anything from suckers to steels that I have seen in years. Usually there is a giant tribal net out front of the marina . They do get steelies there , but I'm not sure if there will be enuff warm water running down the dam since Elk lake just broke up 3 days ago. Gary will probably only have 1 turbine running at this time of the year churnin up water. I'd still give it a try though. Can't hurt.
