Sounds pretty fun! If I have a boat again by then I will definetely be hitting a few of these up....
I'll be there.
Not a Lake Mac fan. Just don't care for it at all. Might hit a few of the Grand ones... we'll see what kind of time I have next summer.
For anyone who doesn't like fishing Mac. There are no restrictions for running so you can run anywhere. There will be no off limits.
;D
I had to change the schedule a little due to Al and Bobs tournament on July 7th at the Grand. So we will fish Lake Mac on July 7th and Grand on July 21st.
Sorry about that I didn't see this series, Its hard to figure out were everyone is going to be especially if its a new series. We at the Al and Bobs Lake Shore Series do apologize. Looks like fun might have to jump into a few of these. Once again sorry for the scheduling conflict been in that sitution more then once.
Thats not a problem. Come join us if you have some free Sundays open and spread the word. We have a great groups of guys that have fun and that are serious when it comes to the fishing.
;D
Good luck on Lake Mac if the water doesn't come up a bit. A lot of very shallow water, mud and muck out there right now... a lot of docks might not have any water under them this year. Here's hoping for a wet spring I guess.
Should be fine in the spring, Holland has 50+ inches of snow for February! Hope for a wet year period though, all the lakes are down from last year's drought.
The problem is that almost all of that 50 inches of snow has been lake effect. I'm guessing the water level of the lakeshore lakes/rivers is going to be extremely low if we don't have a TON of rain this spring! The water level for all of bodies of water connecting to Lake Michigan is directly related to its water level. The ramps might be completely out of the water by summer...
The fish aren't going anywhere!! We just might have change our way of fishing a little and the places were fishing!!! Just have to be a little careful running around this year if the water levels don't come up.
Brian are you going to post weights per tournament and cumulative weights periodically for the season?
Jimmy's my computer guy so if I talk nicely to him I'm hoping he can post after every tournament. What do you think Jimmy? Can you me up?
Yes, I can post the tournament results. Brian, you will need to track the cumulative though from the event sheets I made for you.

A lot of lake effect snow though... which in the long run doesn't do much for raising the water level because it came out of the lake to begin with. The storm we got this week is what we need... non-lake effect. That and some rainy nights this spring (we don't want it to rain during the day... that's when WE fish!).
Think rainy thoughts I guess.
Sent to me today from marine mechanic buddy on a test drive
That's not good!!! I'll figure out what I'm going to do. Might just have to launch at Collins park instead.
I took a ride down to Dutton park and looks like it will be closed for the season. Docks were pulled out and the guard house has been taken away. All the Lac Mac tournaments will launch out of Collins Park. If anyone has any questions feel free to get a hold of me.
Are you sure the season wasn't winter? Ice out was only a week ago.
Closing it for the season due to low water!! Found out from a holland township worker. So we will launch from Collins park.
How is the water level now?
Lake Michigan is getting filled up now!!! I'll keep you posted if they decide to open Dutton park for the season. With all this water they might think different!! We sure are making up for last years drought!!!
Just wanted to make sure everyone knows that we will be launching at Collins Park for the Lake Macattawa tournaments. See ya June 2nd.

Honorable mention goes to our Buddy Kevin who ran to Lake Mac in a 16' tracker and had a big bag but didn't weigh because he helped and aided one of our fishermen that fished the tournament. You had an eventful day Kevin!! Nice job on everything you did today. Thanks to all that helped after the tournament!!
Hope everything is well Dustin!! I'm glad to hear you we're all right.
Thanks again for coming out guys!! Next one is September 1. See ya then!!

Ryan 56.68 lbs.
Aaron 52.61 lbs.
Way to go Kevin
gr@ssmonkey even offered to share one of his PB&J's. Dustin, hope everything turned out OK and you're not to sore today.
The run to Mac from 144th in a 16' Tracker with a 40HP Mercury, with an east wind is 1.5 hours there and 2 on the way back (pleasure boaters made a lot of chop in Lake Mac and near the pier heads). I used about 7-8 gallons of gas. The most annoying part was the float switch in my oil reservoir is jacked up so I listened to BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP for the 3 hours of running/no wake.
Dustin had a nice bag as well, probably about 12 pounds with a big 3 kicker.
Went to the doctor yesterday and no concerns, but did send me for X-Rays today to be certain.
VERY, VERY, VERY Sore!!! The meds help a little though.
NOTE: When they pulled the boat and motor out of the water at Grand Isle, I noticed the motor mounts snapped. That certainly would explain the sudden loss of control. Checked the skeg and prop and they looked exactly like they did before I left in the AM. I've attached pics of the broken motor mount.

Special thanks to Kevin for stopping immediately and of course for taking that treble hook out of my face!
Thanks to everyone who offered assistance. Certainly something I won't ever forget.
djd
Man, thank goodness that didn't end worse! Hope to see you out there again soon.
I'm happy to hear your all good Dustin!! Hope to see you back on the water soon!! Thanks again to the guys that helped and hung around waiting for the okay from Chris!!
Now you have me curious, for those who weren't there what actually happened?
In a nutshell, my motor became dislodged (ie. the engine mount broke) at 60 mph sending the boat out of control and me into the water.
I'm glad I always wear my lifejacket and killswitch.
