Title: Lowrance 520C question
Post by: Dan on June 05, 2012, 05:36:43 PM
I bought an 8G SDHC card to download my waypoints to. When I try to follow the steps it does not recognize the new card. The new 8G SDHC card is a tad bit thicker. Do I actually have to have a MMC card? Also I have a Lakemaster card in the unit. Can I save my waypoints to that card and then put them in another Lowrance unit in a different boat and upload the waypoints? Didn't want to override anything on the Lakemaster card or lose any waypoints.

You can't save to the Map cards and you can't copy them either
As cheap as memory cards are, Just buy a 1 or 2 gig card and be done with it

I wasn't trying to copy anything. I just wanted to download my waypoints from one unit so that I can upload them to another unit. The two units are not networked. I bought a memory card, but the lowrance doesn't recognize it. What card do you buy if it's not a SD card? I went to Walmart and bought an 8 G SD card. Put it in my Lowrance and went through the steps to save, but the message comes up that I need to put in a card even though the 8 G SD card is in it.

More thren likely
Being a older unit. it doesn't read a 8 gig card
Buy some thing smaller

I have a 520 and it's reads a 1 gig card just fine

Dan,

Most of the units even today only recognize up to 4 gig cards.  Most of what we all use only recognizes 2 gig cards.  Bad thing is with the technology advancing so much in the past few years, 2 gig cards are hard to find.  I checked a few months ago and could not find them at Staples or Office Depot.  The sure thing is to order them online.

I have a stock pile of 1gb cards that I grabbed just for this reason.  Need some?

I'm up at the cabin and the wife is suppose to come up and she is getting an oil change at Walmart and is checking there for a card. If I run into a problem, I'll give you a shout. Working on the trolling motor today. The bottom half of my Minn Kota bow mount 74 lbder. cracked in half. Ordered the part and now I have to take everything apart to get the bottom to slide on. Everything is back on except the cable. It's being a pain. You can also see that the wires got hot at some point and the connectors wouldn't pull apart, so I had to cut and redo those as well. Hopefully in the next hour or so after I get off the computer things will get put back together and I might get out fishing. Been getting some nice smallies. They are still bedding.

What lake are you fishing Dan?  I'm looking for someplace to fish on Sunday!  Love to get into some smallies.
