Title: New Contest - a really nice prize The Angler's Genie program
Post by: djkimmel on September 01, 2006, 01:48:46 AM
Time for another contest and I have a GREAT prize - a copy of the new all in one fishing log/tournament management PC program - The Angler's Genie (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/store/glbstore3.html#glbag1) - a $39.99 value. And all you have to do is make a couple guesses!

The challenge - guess what will be the first day cutoff weight for boaters in the Wal-Mart BFL super tournament next Saturday on the Detroit River. The cutoff weight is the weight necessary for the last boater to be eligible to fish the 2nd day on Sunday - the top 20% will go on to day 2.

The trick is to not go over the weight. The GreatLakesBass.com member closest to the boater cutoff weight in pounds and ounces without going over wins a copy of The Angler's Genie (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/store/glbstore3.html#glbag1) - courtesy of GreatLakesBass.com and Business Technology Integration (http://www.btillc.net) - makers of The Angler's Genie.

Post your guesses (if you feel lucky) in pounds and ounces between now and midnight next Friday 9/8/06 to be eligible. If you want to be sneaky, pm me your guess by the same deadline, and I'll keep it private.

TIEBREAKER: If needed, a tiebreaker will be a 2nd guess - guess the winning weight for the co-angler in pounds and ounces without going over - that's the 2-day total weight. Winner will be announced on Monday, September 11, 2006.

Good Luck and let the contest begin!!!

I've received a few private message guesses too. Make sure you note that the TIEBREAKER is the WINNING weight for the co-angler so that would be the 2-day combined weight - if you guessed based on only the cutoff weight or 1-day weight for the co-angler by mistake, I'll allow you to clarify that and send me a new tiebreaker weight.

You can't change your boater cutoff guess once you've posted it or pm'd it to me.

I've already logged your guesses for boater cutoff weight in the 'official' contest log.

coangler weight = 37.68 lbs

live2fish,
I converted your weights to 17-14 and 37-11 respectively (rounding to pounds and ounces since that is how the fish are weighed at BFL).

I'll just add in the conversion to everyone else's post who put in 100th's.

Well - we're past the cutoff time for guesses now so no more guesses will be accepted - a total of 34 valid entries are in.

Now, we just have to wait for the official weights to be recorded. I'll announce the winning member sometime on Monday. Good luck.
Title: AND THE WINNER IS...
Post by: djkimmel on September 11, 2006, 10:25:17 PM
When you're hot, you're hot!!!

Team houston!!!! You've just won?The Angler's Genie (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/store/glbstore3.html#glbag1), the great new all in one fishing log, GPS, tournament software. Now you have something to enter all your expenses, and most importantly... your winnings into!!!

Team houston and Ryan tied with the closest guess to the boater cutoff weight at 16-13 without going over (the actual was 17-00), but both went over on the tiebreaker for the co-angler winning weight.

Actual was 32-15. Ryan guessed 35-9 while Team houston guessed the closest at 35-8. Guess I needed two tiebreakers for you guys and gals.

Congratulations Team houston for a great year so far, and for winning big here too! Email or pm me your mailing address so I can get your prize - The Angler's Genie (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/store/glbstore3.html#glbag1) - out to you as soon as possible.

I'll be interested in hearing what you have to say about it once you get a chance to take a spin with it. Looks like you already stopped wishin' and got fishin' ;D

Congrats Team Houston!!!

As soon as Dan gets you a copy of the software, give me a shout and I can answer questions you may have in getting started.

I hope you like The Angler's Genie - it really will help you catch more fish.

Thanks for the congrats guys. I'm sorry I was not following. After the tourney I took a quick look and did not think I won. So after that I didn't pay attention to this thread. Bummer my home computer is down but maybe I can play with it on my work one. Thank you Dan for putting on the contest and Genie for putting up the prize. We should do more of these if we could get more prizes that is. I still have those unclaimed helicopter lures lol.

I was getting a little worried... glad you're back and found out the good news. You'll have another home computer after you win some more money I'm sure ;D the way you've been fishing this year!

I would like to do more contests. As the site continues to grow and draw attention, opportunities should increase. Word of mouth is still the best way to get new members - so THANKS!!! to all of you who tell your friends (and anyone else who will listen) about GreatLakesBass.com. I am working on a whole bunch of new things for the Web site this winter.

It should keep getting better (my wish and desire anyway) and all of you are a big part of that. I hope I can make it worth you while to keep coming and participating. (Team houston - if you want to get rid of the helicopter lures, I know what I can do with them...;D)

Dan if you are going to the regional, bring some great lakes t-shirts. You could probably sell a few there. I know I still need to pick one up and I should have a little extra cash when I'm there.
