Title: Crankbait Rod Recommendations
Post by: dominater on December 08, 2011, 11:43:47 AM
I'm looking for any suggestions you guys may have for crankbait rod blanks.  Specifically, I'm looking to build a rod that can sling the lighter baits like the CFlash (22 and 44).  I'd like it to have the backbone to crack these baits out of the grass.  I'm thinking a softertip with a little backbone would be good.

From what I have read, I'm leaning toward one of the graphite blended blanks.  I've looked at the MHX CB903, CB905, and CB843 blanks.

I'm not completely sold yet and would love to hear opinions on other blanks as well or any input you guys may have on the length, action, blank composition (ie glass, graphite) etc.

i've built a few different graphite cb blanks and just never found one i like. batson, mhx, castaway... they are all pretty similar and great blanks, just not what i personally look for in a rod.

tried and true, the best cranking rod i've ever had is built on a seeker bcs 706 s-glass blank. lamiglass has a 7' and 7'6" all-glass blank that work good as well, but the seeker does it all and does it well.  i regularly throw traps in grass, RC1.5, strike series 3s, norman deep little n and sk series 6s and 6xds on it .Even those tiny lucky craft skt squarebills.

I appreciate the suggestion and will look into the Seeker.  Where have you found is the best place to order from?

the seekers can be tough to come by the last few years. Mudhole or Swampland should have them or be able to get them. Swampland will probably try and talk you out of it in favor of one of their castaway blanks (which are good also but graphite).
