The Sparty Bass Team recently fished in the Big Ten Classic Bass Championship on Coldwater Lake in Coldwater, MI the weekend of October 1-3. Practice was very tough due to 20-30 mph winds and rain all Thursday through Saturday. Sunday cleared up a lot as the sun was out all morning and afternoon, though it was still extremely windy on the main lake. The Spartans had 3 of their 5 boats come in with fish, for a total first place weight of just under 19 pounds. Wisconsin and Purdue took 2nd and 3rd place respectively. My co-angler and myself took 3rd place overall with 4 fish for just under 7 pounds, and our two other boats that brought in fish took 4th and 5th place overall.
Though Coldwater Lake is a body of water that is full of dinks, we know there are good fish but a lot of them were very tough to locate.
As President of the MSU Fishing Club I would just like to say that I am very proud of our guys that came out that weekend and fished their butts off. It felt great to win this tournament 2 out of the past 3 years and to take the trophy back from Illinois.

Special thanks goes out to all of our sponsors that have supplied us with baits and especially travel expenses. Without you guys none of this would be possible!
Congratulations anglers!
Nice work guys!
Now I really wish that I would have stuck around for the weigh in. Nice job fellas and way to take back the trophy! Go Green!
