What: Christian Anglers Winter Get-together.
When:Friday, January 13th, 2012
Where: TBD
I'd like to open our church for this event if you all think a game night might be fun. If so, how about we plan to bring our families, kids and all for a fun evening of getting to know fellow Christian Anglers.
For the westsiders, if you would prefer to meet somewhere a little more West, that's an option too. Let's get the conversation going to get it all figured out. At this gathering, we can also start planning a date for our Spring Gathering.
The Ultimate Fishing Show is that weekend. Shouldn't we try for a week later or maybe the Ultimate Show weekend would be better just because there may be more people around this area from the westside of the state that come over for that.
BD ;D
I'm thinking most people are more likely to go Saturday to the show anyway. But if the consensus is that it's a bad weekend, we can move it back a week. I'm flexible.
I'm not too far west so I don't think distance is a problem. Plus if it's at your church I think it simplifies (cheapens) the need to rent out or reserve space somewhere else.
Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing. And if we do a potluck, we don't have to eat out. ;)

I think that BD may be on to something, nothing brings more West-siders to the big D, than the Ultimate fishing show. It might be perfect timing.

Just something to put out there and think about.
BD. ;D
Yeah, let's keep the date. No matter what date we pick there will be some who can't make it. Hopefully with the advance notice, most can make plans to be there. So mark your calendars everyone. :)
Sounds good Rev. Depending on soccer games and when I will be working for GLB down at the show, I'll try to make it. I'll bring the wife and the kids although I don't think my teenager will want to come. But maybe I can talk her into it. She could use some fellowship as I think we all can.
BD ;D
I would love to come, but that is a long drive.

Usually the best way to schedule something.
Looking forward to it! Happy Thanksgiving All!!! Praise God for for all that we have in this incredible Nation!
Probably time to start getting a head count. Who's in?
Me!
So far it looks like BigDog, BigJC, Ellipsis, Revtro. Others? Kind of a small turnout so far.
Come on peeps...This is gonna be good!!! Where is everyone at? ???

My 15 year old daughter is planning on coming with us. Maybe that will help convince her.
Is there a location and time for this yet? 7ish could be good because it gives everyone a chance to get home from work, pull the family together, and get going. I still have to talk with my lovely bride to make sure the time slot is free. We can always order Pizza's from the local carry out joint for food if Rev wants to open the church. It can be inexpensive that way also as well as pot luck. Either way we do food is good with me. I like the game night. If we do that, we can bring some games and any one else who wants to bring a game or two can also. We can play cards, board games, charades, etc.
We could always pick a pizza joint between east and west sides of town to do this also. I know a good place on Woodward Avenue and as a matter of fact I know two good places. Comos at Woodward and 9 mile in Ferndale as well as Pasquales a little north of there on Woodward on the westside of the street. Pasquales is one of my favorites. Great pizza. Comos is very good too. I like to eat. It's probably my favorite pastime aside from fishing.
BD. ;D
I would be ok w/ Pizza.
What do you say Tom?
Just a thought, but if it is only going to be four of us, we could always meet at a restaurant, and not have to mess up at the church? Carter fam is in either way.

That would certainly be alright by me.
BD ;D
Has anyone else decided to join the fun???
Some things are coming up for Friday concerning my son's soccer team so I am hoping we can still make it. Even after the soccer thing, I'd like to still come by. As long as we can figure all this out for the get-together, the odds are we'll be able to make it. I'll know more as the week progresses.
BD. ;D
Just set a time and a location and I'll be there. 7 works for me, but might be late depending on traffic. I do love to eat too.
Where is everyone coming from?
Farmington Hills.
BD. ;D
Ypsilanti.
I am in Taylor, so the 3 of us are west siders, while Pastor Tom is on the East side, I believe.
Tom, what are your thoughts?
I guess I should be careful about using the term "westsiders," on this website, where westsiders usually refers to West of Lansing, rather than west of I-75 ;D
Hey guys, just getting caught up on the web and some how missed it. Would like to come to an event like this, but I will be working the show all weekend. Maybe next time.
Sounds good Ralph, see you at the show.
It looks as though my son is going to be playing soccer Friday evening at 7:30pm. Depending on what time and where we are meeting will determine whether or not I will be able to make it. I will check the thread for updates as often as I can.
BD. ;D
So, BD,
What would make it most convenient for you to make it?
He is playing in the Novi/Wixom area. Around that area somewhere. Northville or Farmington area isn't that far. He should be done around 8:30 and by the time I got there it will be 9 ish. You guys figure it out and I'll try to make it.
BD. ;D
Sorry guys. I have been swamped with a huge project so I haven't been able to keep up with this thread. I'm up for whatever. I suggest maybe getting together a little later like maybe 8 so that BD and his family can make it after the soccer thing without missing too much. Since most are on the west side, I'm totally cool with meeting somewhere a little closer for you all. Problem is, I don't know where. What's halfway or closer to everyone? I'm willing to drive. Someone pick a spot.
BTW my wife says she'll come as long as it's "not all guys". Bringing wives right? See what I'm dealing with over here? LOL
I wanted to bring the whole clan. But at this point, I don't know what my lively bride has planned. I put the event on the family calendar so we should all be on the same page.......or not. At the least it will be my son and I.
BD. ;D
Well since BD is going to be in the Novi area, anyone have any objection to Famous Dave's?
We may get some participation from some at the show if we meet in that area. I like Famous Dave's.
BD. ;D
I'm good with that.
I am good w/ that also, and I am bringing the whole clan. We may even hit the show for a bit.
Is that the Famous Daves in Novi then?
Yeah. Should we start getting a headcount?
Count the Carter fam in for 6; What time?
8:30?
If that works for BD and Pastor Tom, that works for me.
Sure. Headin to the show first. :)
Will get a table for 12ish?
Awesome. We may have another guy I know join us. See y'all at 8:30.
Getting table now...
Edit: just inside the door and to the left. I'm the Asian guy at the big table.
Nice meeting you Rick, bummer you couldn't make it BD. that was fun!
I would have liked to. Alec was tired and sweaty and I needed to get him home. This cold weather and the changes bring the flu. Don't need that in the house. I apologize to the group for not being able to make it. Revtro mentioned that he may do another one before spring.
BD. ;D

Great meeting you too John and good seeing Tom again! Was nice to meet your families as well.
I look forward to the next on.
It was a really nice evening. It was great to see you again Rick and John. John, you have a very sweet family. And I'm glad Jim was able to join us, hopefully we'll see him on these boards soon. We should do this more often. :)
John, I'm gonna hound you about fishing Erie this summer! You too BD! Rick, any time you want to get out on St. Clair, there's always an open seat for ya. You gotta come experience the spawn. You'll love it.
thanks Tom...I am looking forward to it.
Before I got on this board, I thought I'd have to pay for a charter to get onto LSC. It's going to be a looooong winter waiting to get back on the lake. Can't wait.
Yes it is going to be a long winter. Time to start respooling rods and re-organizing tackle.
I have been busy installing my new Humminbird 597 on the bow of my Legend
