I'm not sure there will be much interest, but I'll post the question anyway. :). I was thinking that we have quite a few anglers on this site who follow Christ. The Bible encourages to gather together for encouragement and fellowship. So would anyone be interested in getting together a small fun tourney and BBQ to end the season this year? Maybe a St. Clair River tourney? Another idea was maybe just doing a get-together at a B-Dubs to put a face to the name. If there is any interest in either idea, I'll toss out a few dates. Whatcha think?
Tom, I think this is a great idea. Provided my son's soccer doesn't get in the way, I would be interested in attending. There just isn't enough fellowship any more and I believe that we all need that.
BD ;D
Would easter/christmas catholics be invited? LOL.
Meeting some of you folks would be nice at some point though.
LOL, of course Ellipsis. Anyone interested in hanging with fellow believers is more than welcome. Let's see how much interest we have. I'm open to ideas! ;D
Tom,
My fall schedule is filling up fast, but I would certainly be up for it, schecule permitting.
I'm not sure we have a ton of interest yet, but want to propose a date? Should we fish or just hang out? Both might be fun. Maybe if we launched out of Metro Beach, we could hang there for a BBQ after.
you know .. my grandfather and I are both very close together and at times I consider us more of brothers in christ because of our relationship.. I would love to see this happen! It might be difficult for us to make it because we are west-siders but For something like this I would like to push it on him :) but even if this doesnt work out this year, I dont want to see this idea die. I think it is a great idea and I would love to be apart of it! Possably alternate lakes on different years?
even though Im young I still love to connect with my fellow fallowers of christ... and I would be happy to do what I can to help make it happen!

My thought would be this: if we can pull of a Saturday in October, it would be a great idea to fish out of Metro beach and BBQ after. If not, we have five months of cold, crappy, non-fishing weather (no offense to all of you Hardwater fishermen), during which we could put together a fellowship.
BTW for those of us who do fish during the hard water season...don't forget to check out Dan's new ice fishin' website. I am sure it will be full of good info this winter. http://www.greatlakesicefishing.com/
talked with my grandpa and he also thinks this is a great idea! lets get zona in here haha ;) I would like the tournament alot too tho
The only availability I'd have is October 8th, but I'm up for it. Does anyone know when they take the docks out of Metro?
Who would commit to being there on the 8th? If we can drum up the interest, let's go for it! I say we fish till 11am, then BBQ and hang out.
Once we get an idea of who's coming, we'll figure out what to bring. ;D
Who's in?
Count me in, but I don't have a boat so I'd have to be someone's back seat. As long as the day isn't longer than 12 hours I don't have to find a dog sitter.
edit: If their grills are sub-par, I'd be happy to haul out my Weber kettle.
October 8 is like the only day I'm busy:/
The other day I had available was at the end of the month, but I can't see BBQ in the snow. :(
Not sure what else to do. The only other date I have is the 22nd and I'm afraid it will be too cold by then. If there was any way I could change plans the other couple of Saturdays I would, but I have church events on those days I must attend.
I could do something next Saturday, but is that too short of notice? Everyone weigh in on this.
Next Saturday or October 8?
Bassinkid, we'd love you to be able to be there.
Unfortunately both those dates don't work for me. My boy has soccer games.
BD. ;D

Is this the official formation of TEAMMARK117 or what?!?!?!? I am in for sure if we can go a week from today. October 8th is our Championship down on Coldwater so if you can make next Saturday that would be awesome!
SMALLIES WILL BE LOADED IN THE RIVER(s) next week for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm all for next Saturday. The fishing in the river should be great. It was decent yesterday!
Mark 1:17 And Jesus said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men."
If we do it next Saturday, I wonder if we should launch in Algonac and see if we can get permission to BBQ there?? That way the weather would be less of a factor for fishing the river.

That sounds good to me! We should grab a few walleye on the way back in to grill up as well......

You could always go up the road to the state park and BBQ there Rev.
BD ;D
Next weekend works for me too as long as I can shake this stupid cold.
i am a definite maybe for next Saturday. So what ramp is it???
Gahhh.. I can't make it this because I have some prior responsibilities with refing a soccer game and it is also my birthday weekend. but it sounds like a great time and I'm sure god will be smiling on everyone that day :) do you guys think we could set a date for something next year so I don't plan anything? I am really bummed I can't do it but if we start planning now for another one we could probably pull more interest?
Yeah, planning for next year is a great idea. Also, there's nothing saying we can't do a social get-together during the cold months in addition. ;D
As usual, Tom has masterminded another great idea. Fish Saturday and plan a get together for Jan. or Feb., between Wild game dinners and sports shows. ;D
I'm in if it is this saturday just need to know times and what launch. I might be able to get one more person too depending on what time you think we will be done.
Ok, it seems like we have enough to commitment to make this happen. I would propose that we launch at the Algonac ramp and fish the channels. The nice thing about that ramp is that we're close enough to fish down the South Channel or even up North to Fawn without big runs.
BD, where was that spot we could do a BBQ that you mentioned?
Game Plan
Arrive THIS SATURDAY at 7:30am at the Algonac Ramp.
Fish from 8 to 12 or 1
BBQ down the road at the State Park afterward.
WHO IS BRINGING WHAT?
I will bring a couple packs of Hot Dogs and condiments.
we should try to get word out more and see what we get for next year.. i know its still a long way away but Im sure we could get really good numbers if we start advertizing soon.. we could start getting word out some time inbetween december-june before anyone starts making plans? and should we shoot for the same day next year or do you have another date that you think would be better?
Well, looks like it will just be me so I will have an open seat in my boat. I'm not that familiar with fishing the river down there so hopefully this will be a learning experience as well as a good time. I will bring some charcoal and a couple bags of chips.
I can bring charcoal and my chimney starter (don't like the taste of lighter fluid). Could also bring some burgers or dogs as well. I'll be looking to sit in the back of someone's boat though.
I don't see this state park BD was talking about. Anyone know where it is or if it's close?
Can we get a headcount so I know how much hamburger to buy?
So far:
Revtro (I'm bringing a friend) Boater/Nonboater - Bringing Hot Dogs, Buns, Ketchup,Mustard
Ellipsis - Nonboater - Bringing Hamburger, Charcoal
Tjrock - Boater - Bringing Chips
Hoping to hear from:
BD
Bigjc
Roi
Others?
BTW - I think I know where that State Park is right up the road. We should be set. Is someone bringing a BBQ? I don't own a small one.
According to the State Parks website they have firepits and BBQ's in the day use picnic area. They also have a shelter we can use if it's not already being used by someone else. According to the weather man we might get a little wet. They've been wrong quite a bit lately so hopefully they are for Saturday too. The State Park is about 3 miles north of the Algonac boat launch on M-29
Revtro,Is it to late to sign up.The last time I looked you guys were talking October 7-8.If it is going to be this Saturday I am interested.I will bring my boat and some potato salad and some tuna salad.I have to have some surgery on my left foot next Monday so this will work out just right for me.I will bring some paper plates and some plastic ware also.

That's it. It is called Algonac State Park. I camped there last year in October with the family. Real nice camp ground too.
BD ;D
Come on BD, tell us you're gonna make it!
Bob, it's awesome you can come. Can't wait!!!
So far:
Revtro (I'm bringing a friend) Boater/Nonboater - Bringing Hot Dogs, Buns, Ketchup,Mustard
Ellipsis - Nonboater - Bringing Hamburger, Charcoal
Tjrock - Boater - Bringing Chips, pop
Bob620 - Boater - BringingPotato/Tuna salad, plates, plasticware.
I'll grab some pop and water to drink too.
Going to pick up some burgers and buns on the way home tonight. See you fellas tomorrow morning.
Anyone have an address or something I can plug into my GPS of where the Algonac Launch is located at? I'm guessing it's the launch at the end of Smith St?
Thats the one!
I don't have an address. I take 26 Mile to Palms. I turn right on Palms and take it until it ends (back on Dixie or 23 or whatever they call it in that area) Turn left and go through the marsh and into town. When you get past the Ferry, you're near. The ramp will be on your right. It's at a light. Taking 26 is the fastest way. Taking 23 gets you a whole lot of lights and slow speed limits.
To anyone who hasn't responded, you are invited to join us in the morning. Just show up at the ramp at 7:30. Hope to see you all there.
If i can make it (in other words if I can talk my wife into it), do I need to bring my boat?
Hoping to make it...
Sorry guys...could't make it. Hope you guys had a blast.
What a nice day. The weather was absolutely perfect. The fishing was quite slow. I think between us we got around 9 bass, but that didn't seem to matter. It was fun getting together with some brothers. Apparently Ellipsis is quite the griller! He had the hookup and definitely helped us have a great BBQ. It was great to make conversation with some new friends and I'm really looking forward to this becoming something we do regularly. For those of you who couldn't make it, I still think a winter gathering would be a blast. I'll put something together and get it up here very soon. Again, thanks to all who made it. It could not have been a nicer and more blessed day. ;D
It was really nice to put faces to names and even if the fishing was slow, I still had a blast. Couldn't have asked for a better fall day and the pure kindness of everyone I met was amazing. Looking forward to the next event.
Sure was disappointed that I had to miss out, but looking forward to a winter gathering.
Yea it looks like we missed out on this one John. We could have put a hurtin on some food for sure.... ;D
ohh your making me jealous! haha NEXT YEAR FORSURE!!!
Well let's not wait to get a couple things planned.
It was suggested that we do a winter fellowship and I think that's a great idea. I have a great date. Just to show we're not superstitious, let's do it Friday, January 13th. ;)
I am going to put up a sign up now so we can start making plans.
Oh almost forgot. Thanks tjrock for the ride in the Ranger. Highlight of my weekend thanks man!
Sounds good Tom
